Jean Kavanagh I worked in journalism for over a decade in British Columbia, Toronto and Central America where I covered civil wars in El Salvador and Guatemala for The Globe and Mail newspaper and CBC Radio.

Journalism helped launch my career in strategic communications. I understand how the media define news and know what makes a story and how to pitch it. This expertise gives me an edge in media relations and issues management, and I believe in telling stories to communicate complex and data-laden issues.

I have an arts degree from Laval University in Quebec City and studied Creative Writing at the University of Victoria and Counselling Psychology and Writing at the University of British Columbia. I speak French and Spanish.

I have lived in Vancouver, Canada for over 20 years with stints away in Toronto, Central America and Spain. I am an active member of the Canadian Public Relations Society, Vancouver Chapter and a Board member of Collingwood Neighbourhood House in my East Vancouver community.
